As part of the redevelopment of Huntingdon town centre, Cambridgeshire County Council relocated to
a new office facility within the town. The project comprised of a shared basement car park, 3000m² of mixed use space over 4 floors.
Edmond Shipway was again appointed to undertake the engineering services design and BREEAM Assessment.
The scheme has been designed on the brief of providing a facility that embodied low energy, is sustainable and uses renewable technologies to facilitate attaining a minimum BREEAM rating of “Very Good”.
We developed the design and concepts with the professional team to provide a full natural ventilation scheme to all open plan and cellular offices. The scheme has been tested and developed by using our thermal dynamic software along with tracking the impact of design changes on the anticipated BREEAM rating.
As a result the thermal model output of temperature and comfort profiles the clients were able to initiate an informed decision as to the implications of the design and brief the end user occupants on the progress and operational changes they could anticipate from relocating from a fully conditioned deep plan building.
